"Josephus, the
renowned historian who lived during
the first century, says John lived
on carob, eating neither bread of
any kind nor the flesh of animals,
beside refusing wine and
intoxicating beverages. But the
Gospels now read John the Baptist
ate “locusts and wild honey”. The
Locust tree and fruit are carob,
otherwise known as “St. John’s
Bread” or food, because Luke (7:33)
says he ate no bread. However, the
words “wild honey” the Hebrew
scholars in the Soncino Chumash
translate as “fruits that exude
sweet juices”, such as “dates and
figs”. This would also include the
sweet grape which yields a delicious
juice when freshly pressed. In
Palestine many fruits abound in many
varied micro-climates including;
grape, fig, dates, banana, carob,
mango, peach, apple, melon and
citrus."
Revision: This
is correct in that John the Baptist
(the beloved Apostle and Messenger
of the Spirit of Christ) did
live on the wild fruits of the
desert for a period of his life and
also fasted in the desert. Later
John the Baptist is known to have
eaten vegetables, grasses, sprouts
and cultured milk as stated in The Essene Gospel of Peace and The
Healing God Spell of Saint John.
Carob has a high calcium and mineral
content which can keep the teeth and
bones in a healthy state for a
while. Thus, an all fruit diet was
useful for cleansing and spiritual
renewal but was not practiced for
long periods of time.

From The
Healing Transition Diet:
"Very slowly
and gradually add more cooked and
raw fruit until fully adapted to raw
fruit."
Revision:
Gradually adapt to eating more
living, uncooked fruit, living,
uncooked vegetables and cultured
milk products (kefir, yogurt, sour
cream, butter, cottage cheese and
cheese), preferable made from raw,
grass fed milk. Honey is also
mentioned in the Essene text. A normal,
omnivorous eater will need to eat
cooked brown rice, potatoes, rye
crisp bread, whole grain pasta and
toasted wheat bread to slow down
their elimination rate, plus
raw salads and cooked vegetables
which provide fiber to clean out the
digestive tract.
